About Us

“Let’s get some Thai food, and you can talk me into backpacking Southeast Asia. P.S- This will be extremely easy”

We started talking about taking this trip in July of 2008, and met shortly after. We don’t care if that doesn’t make sense.

Brian is a photographer and graphic designer, and Julia is a chef. We’re both Colorado natives, but have lived other places.  Here are some fun facts about each of us:

BRIAN:

  • Is a wedding & portrait photographer based in Denver, Colorado USA (www.markhamphotography.com)
  • Really likes animals
  • Really likes Julia’s cooking
  • Has been to Thailand and Indonesia before, but not for nearly as long

JULIA:

  • Is a freelance chef and cooking instructor (www.chefjulia.com)
  • Speaks fluent Italian (and English)
  • Really likes her cats, Oliver and Simon
  • Scared of bugs

We will have known each other just over a year when we leave for India 9/29/09.  Mark Twain said “ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.”  We’re pretty sure we like each other, so we’re not too worried.
